What are the health benefits of green tea?
October 10, 2010
I’ve been drinking it a lot lately, and I know it has antioxidents in it and some beneficial vitamins, but does anyone know what this helps with?
Also, I’ve heard it speeds up your metabolism, but if I drink like one bottle of Arizona green tea a day will this really have an effect on my metabolism at all? I don’t really need a faster one, because I’m super tiny and have a good metabolism as it is..but I do love the stuff!
lol I don’t need a weight loss system. I weigh 98 lbs..
green tea is an anti cancer agent, it also boosts your metabolism but you are drinking a brand that is really not that much tea compared to sugar and has preservatives in it if I remember right…which defeats the teas purpose. Green tea also pulls out poisons from the body, It would work better if you drank the real green tea and sweetened it with only honey…the more natural the better…hope it helps
Brief History of Tea Drinking
October 2, 2010
Drinking tea has originated in China during the 2737 BC period. It has been said that tea was accidentally made when dried leaves fell and landed on the boiling water. Of course, it gave the water a brownish tinge, but the aroma was appetizing that the emperor, who was then visiting the place, could not resist but taste the liquid. To his amazement, the dried leaves gave the otherwise bland water a very refreshing and very aromatic taste. The emperor wanted more, so he ordered to have more of the dried leaves boiled and made into tea.
From that time, tea consumption traveled to other parts of the country. Different methods of tea preparation were made, and different tea leaves were used to create the best and most refreshing tea drinks.
From China, tea drinking soon reached Japan, and it has been said that it was a Buddhist priest who introduced tea drinking to the country. He has learned about the culture of drinking tea, studied the ceremonies of tea preparation and drinking, and found it beneficial for his religious meditations.
It was in the 1560 AD period that tea drinking finally reached Europe. It was brought to Europe by a Portuguese priest who have seen and experienced the habit when he was working as a missionary in Asia. Tea first entered Europe through Portugal, and from Portugal, it reached Lisbon where it then traveled to France as well as Holland. From these two countries, it spread to the rest of the countries in the Baltic region.
In the mid 1650s AD, hundreds and hundreds of years after it was first invented, tea finally reached the shores of England. It received instantaneous accolade that it soon took the place of ale as the national drink of the country. The best tea leaves were, of course, reserved for the elite and royal families, and these high-quality tea leaves were considered very expensive during those times. Four decades later, tea became commercially available in the United States.
Tea gardens also first began popping up in London, specifically the Ranelagh garden as well as the Vauxhall garden, and drinking teas at these tea gardens became a very good way of ending a night of fun and festivities. Pretty soon, the idea became so popular that many tea gardens popped up all over the country.
Later, tea parties became just as popular as tea gardens, and these tea parties became a favorite pastime of many ladies where they can catch up on latest stories as well as trade gossips.
Nowadays, tea drinking has become a very big part of our history and culture. It has bridged people together as well as helped many while away the time.
